Agora National Honor Society Adviser's Welcome,

Welcome to the Agora’s National Honor Society Page!

My name is Colleen Richardson and I am the proud co-advisor to this wonderful group of young ladies and gentlemen. In order to become selected for this honor, these students had to exemplify the qualities of Leadership, Character, Scholarship, and Service. All of our inductees have held a GPA of 3.25 or above and have proven leadership skills as well as a dedication to building a strong character while serving their community.

Our members attend monthly meetings, contribute to our annual service project, and perform 40 hours of community service within their community this school year. Please explore our page so you can learn more about how our NHS students are working to serve the state of Pennsylvania this year.

Sincerely, Ms. Colleen Ricahardson
Head of Agora Cyber Charter School's National Honor Society

Our History

From its conceptualization, the Agora National Honor Society was designed to embody the idea of servitude. The organization as a whole has a long history, with unique stories to tell every step of the way. We have our own story to tell. Each one of us has been blessed with the opportunity to use our talents, gifts, and most important of all, our time to share that blessing with others. In doing so, we not only touch our communities: but also fortify skills of leadership and excellence—skills that will carry us throughout our lives.

As contrite as it may sound, we've changed the world. From raising money to support premature babies and foundations who build homes for the homeless, to washing cars and simply pitching in where a helping hand is needed; we've all contributed in one way or another. This is the legacy we’re leaving behind: one founded on strong values, reinforced by integrity, and built upon by the generations to follow. How will you use this opportunity to keep changing the world?

Our Pledge

I pledge to maintain high scholastic standing,

To hold as fundimental and worthy

An untarnished character,

To endeavor intelligently and courageously

To be a leader,

And to give of myself freely in service to others.

In so doing, I shall prove myself worthy

Of a place in the National Honor Society.

I pledge myself

Always to seek the light of truth,

To hold scholarly habits,

To engage in worthy service,

And to lead forward in all things

That shall advance the welfare of the school.

Our Officers (for the 2013-14 School Year)
Regan Warren, President:

Greetings everybody! My name is Regan Elizabeth Warren. I would like to share a little bit about myself. I am currently 17 years old and in my senior year of highschool. It's hard for me to pick a favorite school subject. I enjoy literature, history, and public speaking. This year I will be serving as the president of our Agora chapter of the National Honor Society. Some of my duties include leading NHS meetings, creating presentations, communications, and organizing projects. I am excited for my last year here with Agora! By the time I graduate I hope to have worked out my college and career goals. I will strive to be the best student I can be during my last year of highschool. I also hope to prove myself to be a worthy leader during my time as Agora NHS president. Thank you all so much!

Lauren Dennis, Vice President:

My name is Lauren Dennis and this year I am your Vice President. Being VP means I will be your point-of-contact if you are going to have to miss a meeting (I do attendance) and I also track member qualifications which include service hours and also grade point averages. If there are any issues I will work you personally and on individual situation basis. I am a junior and I love all things Math and Science. I have 3 sisters, one who is already an Agora graduate and I have been an Agorian for over 6 years. :) I am a Do-er; I love to get the chance to get my hands dirty and interact. My dream for NHS is to see us excited, as a team, about serving and making a difference in each of our individual worlds through our participation together in the National Honor Society.

Tyler Baum, Secretary/Treasurer:

Hello, my name is Tyler Baum, I am 15 years of age, and I am the Secretary/Treasurer of Agora’s NHS for 2013-2014. My favorite subject is history, the American Civil War in specific, and I am a junior with Agora, dually enrolled, and attend classes at Duquesne University on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I play travel ice hockey for the Pittsburgh Selects U16 AAA team and I also play baseball, as well as being an avid skier, golfer, and tennis player. My goals for this year are to have the NHS to physically help organizations, and to most importantly, further the leadership and communication skills of the Agora National Honor Society members.I look forward to working with each and everyone this school year!

Emily Foote, Parliamentarian/Publicist:

Hi, I'm Emily! Many people call me Emi, however. I'm in 11th grade, and  I've been with Agora since it started 8 years ago, with PAVCS for the 4 years before that, and, overall, with k12 for 12 years.

I am this year's Parlimentarian/Publicist. As the Parlimentarian/Publicist, I handle voting, legal matters, the newsletter, and advertising.

My favourite school subject would either be English or History. I am currently involved in a lot of hobbies/activities. I run a soon-to-be non-profit organization called World Wide Cyber Schoolers. We basically provide ways of connecting with other cyber schoolers together, and organize events. I'm also involved in my local high school's drama club, my local newspaper's teen section, and I'm taking up fencing soon.

My goals as Parlimentarian/Publisict are to bring the NHS together as the community we are and can be. I also would love to see more in person events, and get to know you all.

I'm excited to meet you all and interact with you!

Matthew Ooi, Historian:

My name is Matt Ooi. As a 12th grade student, this will be my last year at Agora. Math and science are by far my favorite academic studies. I will be serving as the Agora National Honor Society Historian this year. As Historian, I organize, record, and keep track of NHS activities and meetings. Concluding my final year of high school, my goal is more than boasting good grades, it is to be a servant.
